After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided not to return to Oberlin in 2012. It was not an easy decision but I will be moving on to Pine Hills Golf Club to fill their 1st Assistant Professional position. I believe this decision will have a positive effect on my career and more importantly my family life since Pine Hills is only about 3 minutes from my home in Brunswick. I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the support from Cliff, the staff and the members of Oberlin G.C. It has truly been an honor and privilege serving you for the past seven years. I feel that the experiences and relationships I have gained from my time there will prove to be of great value to my career as a PGA Golf Professional. Dear Membership,
I have accepted the resignation of Chad Wilson after seven years of dedicated service here at Oberlin Golf Club. Chad has decided to accept a similar position at Pine Hills Golf Club in Brunswick. I want to publicly thank Chad for his assistance over the past seven years. He really grew into one of the best professionals I have ever had work for me. I know that we all wish Chad and his family nothing but the best in his new position. I am sure he will be back to visit us occasionally.
With that being said, I was in the right place at the right time as they say!! I have hired Ben Farina to take Chad’s place for the 2012 golf season. Some of you know Ben from his prior employment here at Oberlin. After five years at Medina CC, Ben will be coming back to add his talents to our staff. Quite a few of our new members probably don’t know Ben, but they will be impressed with his dedication, teaching ability, playing ability and the experience he brings to the club. I am excited to have Ben back and I look forward to this upcoming golf season.
I will have the 2012 calendar on the website sometime after February 14th. We have some new events on the schedule as well as the popular Ryder cup event in mid- October. The Invitational is scheduled for July 19th, 20th and 21st. I am heading to the PGA Merchandise show next week to do my buying for the season. I can’t believe how fast his winter has gone and as you can guess it has been a pretty busy one for me. Lastly, thank you for your continued support and we will see you in late March.

Unfotunately, due to continuing rain and the inability to have golf carts on the course, the Member-Guest Clambake scheduled for Friday, October 21st has been cancelled. Please contact the golf shop with any questions or concerns….
The Fairway aerification will be done this Friday!!! Due to the weather over the past two weeks, we will be aerifying fairways and some holes my be closed for cleanup. Please call the golf shop if you have any questions.
Due to the continuing rain and extremely wet conditions, the couples event for Sunday, October 2nd has been cancelled.
Due to persistent rain this week, it has become necessary to re-schedule fairway aerification until next Friday October 7th.
I will update with current infomation as we get closer to our new target date. Thanks for your understanding.
